MAISON&OBJET Paris, Stockholm Furniture Fair and Fiera Milano represent some of the top furniture, accessory and lighting fairs in Europe. The best contemporary designs are introduced during these fairs, and lighting designers didn't disappoint this year.

The Origami collection was designed as wall art by Spanish architect Ramón Esteve to illuminate a room. The three lacquered finishes are meant to be grouped into unlimited wall combinations for the ultimate in artistic expression.

Danish designer Simon Legald debuted a striking range of pendant lamps called Amp for Normann Copenhagen at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Amp has a contemporary vibe with a nod to the uber-cool design style of the moment: retro. The inspiration for the lamp's shape came when the designer was restoring a 1960s radio.

Stockholm design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune designed a set of three cone-shaped pendants for Swedish lighting brand Wästberg. Large enough to make a statement yet still fit through a door, the oversized w151 shades are spun from lightweight aluminum. The design studio wanted to rebel against minimalism with oversized lampshades in bold colors.

Inspired by American architect Philip Johnson's interiors, the textural Lincoln chandelier is elegant yet whimsical. Blown-glass spheres are worked with the balotòn technique to give the glass texture. Each sphere is mounted on a pink-gold vertical structure and illuminated with LEDs.

Curtain is a not only a stunning light fixture but also a functional room partition. French designer Arik Levy designed the hanging fixture in different textiles and sizes, and with light variations depending on preference — LEDs on top, on the bottom or at both ends — for the ultimate hanging light fixture.

Paul Loebach's Halo series is light, graceful and energy-efficient. The floating, clean lines are anchored by the hand-finished metal surfaces that create concentric rings, illuminated by LEDs. The collection includes chandeliers, pendants and wall sconces.

Delicate, interlocked squares in Opalflex are hand assembled into a geometric, freeform design. The Clizia Suspension collection, manufactured and sold by Italian firm Slamp, comes in a variety of colors and styles (ceiling/wall mounts, pendants and lamps).
